I pushed my boyfriend to violence, a violence he couldn't control. Sickly, I almost liked it. So I pushed him more. Before long, the pain outweighed the pleasure and the loss I sustained shattered me. So I ran. I’m now a bit shell-shocked harboring a lot of guilt. My boyfriend is now my ex and wants revenge. He wants me to pay for turning him into the monster he’s become. And I still have a deviant yearning that I don’t understand. My own monster inside… my own demon to battle.
I can’t get close to anyone. I can’t give in and scratch that itch. I can’t wreck someone else.
And now there is Kian… my rescuer on a dark, painful night. He sees through my pretense. He tries to pull me from my frightened isolation, to keep me from becoming a victim. He forces me to face my warped desires and shows me that pain doesn’t really have to truly hurt.
He wants to show me a way to serenity. But I am afraid… Will I ruin a good man?
LORIE'S REVIEW
I’m not exactly sure what I expected from the blurb. But, I love stories with broken characters
and alpha males, and that’s EXACTLY what I got with Because of Kian. This is a sweet, sexy, and emotional story
about an abused and broken girl, a stalkerish/protective guy, and how they try
to save each other.
Brynn ran, and now she’s hiding.
Hiding from an abusive boyfriend, Evan.
She blames herself. Liking the
pain, she believes she’s the reason he went to too far and her actions turned
him into what he is. Now she’s a broken
mess hiding out in a new town. Brynn may
be hiding, but she still manages to catch Kian’s eye. Unbeknownst to Brynn, Kian is her
protector. One night at a club, Evan
catches up with Brynn and beats her in the alley. Kian saves her, and their relationship takes
off from there….
…It has ups, downs, twists, turns, and some really steamy hot
and kinky sex. Kian wants nothing more
than to save Brynn, but Brynn thinks she’s beyond saving. She’s convinced that she’ll only ruin him and
that he deserves more. But Kian is
determined to show Brynn it’s okay to like pain, and that she’s capable of
being loved. The question is can he save
her?
The best part of the story?
Hands down……. Kian. The man is
tough, gentle, strong, protective, sweet, totally alpha, and ….. a bit
kinky. He’s just so easy to fall in love
with. And, the fact that he calls Brynn
‘baby’…... Ohhhh Emmm Geeee. It makes me go looking for a grape popsicle to
cool down. When a guy uses ‘baby’, it’s
just hot, seductive, and sexy as hell.
Because of Kian sucked me in from the very beginning. There was unbelievable attraction between
Brynn and Kian that could be felt from miles away, and the momentum of the
story was great. It did slow down a bit
though. I really enjoyed Kian and Brynn’s
story, but I wanted more and the more just never came for me. It was missing something, and I just can’t
put my finger on it. Still, this is a
great story of broken and damaged characters that find that together they can
be made whole again.
