Beck by Harper Sloan: Blog Tour and Review

 Beck
Harper Sloan
Book 3 - Corps Security Series

**Warning** This book is intended for a mature reading**
~DEE~
I’ve always been good at wearing masks. Not letting anyone see the real me. I’m content being the happy-go-lucky best friend. The strong willed boss. The independent woman who doesn’t need a man.
But the truth is I’m just as broken as the rest of you. I’m terrified that all it will take is one person to make all my carefully constructed walls crumble into fine dust. So I guard my heart with everything I have. Determined to never let anyone get close enough to hurt me again.
All is perfect until HE walks into my life. No… he doesn’t just walk. He struts his good-looking, sex-oozing self-right into my space and demands that I see HIM. Making me want what I know I can’t have.
So I did the only thing I know how to do.
I run.
But he just won’t let me go.
~BECK~
The second I see her, I know she will be mine. I see past the gorgeous smiles and heart-stopping laughter. I see HER. She doesn’t want me to know her secrets or the past that haunts her, but I make it my mission to find out.
To make her mine.
She can run all she wants, but it will never be far enough to stop me from coming after her.
She’s it for me and she knows it.
She’s just too scared to admit it.
**NO cliffhanger, HEA, inter-connected standalones**

Beck is book three in the Corp Security Series by Harper Sloan. You don’t necessarily have to have read Axel and Cage to enjoy Beck. Please realize that if you haven’t read the first two books in the series, there may be spoilers that might ruin those two books for you, so if you haven’t read them yet, please, in the name of all that is holy, stop right now and read them first!

Now, I need to be honest. I’m not just a regular blogger reviewing the book. I have what I’d like to think is a special relationship with this book. I was a beta for Beck. I was able to read it as it was being written. If, for some reason, that makes you think I can’t be partial in reviewing it, I totally understand. However, I like to be completely honest in these things.

Now, on to the good stuff! While this is Beck’s story, it is just as much, if not more, Dee’s story. They have both been along for the ride since the beginning, when we met them in Axel and Izzy’s story. I will admit to being stumped by Dee’s wonky behavior and more than a little stressed out by her constant pushing Beck away. Their relationship from Axel and Cage has already stretched over almost two years, so I was anxious to see what was going on in their private lives. I will admit to being shocked beyond my wildest imagination by what has transpired, and why Dee was so hot and cold.

Now, I would be so remiss in going on and on about Dee and not even mentioning Beck. Beck...he was a BIG surprise. I did not expect him to be so sweet and patient and sure of what he wanted. That is all I’m going to say!

This book not only touches on Dee and Beck’s relationship, but it brings all of Corp Security back into our lives. We get a taste of Cage and Melissa, and who can forget our precious little Cohen. Cooper, our resident man whore is out and about, and Maddox is back with his sage advice.  There are some secrets revealed that will rock your world, and if you finish this book without a tear, I swear you are not a human being. This is the best Harper Sloan has offered yet, and I can’t wait for the next book!

I’m giving it Five Stars From The To Be Read List

Amber’s POV

I was also lucky enough to beta read for Beck. And I have to say there is nothing better
than an author you love and support writing such a panty-meltingly wonderful book. Now
on to the review :)

I loved Axel and Cage, but there was something about Beck that caused me to quiver in naughty places. I want to start by saying that it feels like with this novel Harper has seriously come into her own. The ease with which she makes you care about her characters is awe-inspiring. I anxiously awaited the release of Beck and this book made it worth every second! Now on to the nitty-gritty!

Dee has a past that none of us knew about. Hell, even her best friends had no idea the extent of the things Dee hid from them. Beck was the only one who saw past her facade to the woman underneath. With his fierce, penetrating gaze….sorry, let me wipe the drool from my face and continue. I mean for-real-e-o…Dee says it best herself in the synopsis when she describes her life as “perfect until HE walks into it. No… he doesn’t just walk. He struts his ‘good-looking, sex-oozing self’ right into my space and demands that I see HIM. Making me want what I know I can’t have.”

She is not the only one with a strong reaction though. Beck feels it too. He says:
"The second I see her, I know she will be mine. I see past the gorgeous smiles and heart-stopping laughter. I see HER. She doesn't want me to know her secrets or the past that haunts her, but I make it my mission to find out. "

And no matter the walls she puts up or the obstacles she throws in his way, Beck is determined to overcome them all. Of all the men at Corps Security he is by far my favorite. Not only for his strength and alpha tendencies, but for the fact that he not only sees what others miss, but makes it his mission to find and destroy your demons. The relationship between him and Dee may be one of my favorites so far this year.

Let’s not forget the other men of Corps Security. Maddox Locke (the fan favorite) has a large role in this novel. It is good to get more of glimpse into him and I seriously cannot wait for his book! It may possibly blow my mind more than Beck did! This book will take you on a thrill ride, leaving you in stitches from laughter and in tears. I did at one point have my mind BLOWN. This book presented me with several scenes that I in no way saw coming. And I normally don't get surprised, because I figure stuff out first. Harper played me like a fiddle and I enjoyed every second of it.

Cage made it to the USA Today bestsellers list and I would not be shocked to see Beck on there...or even the NYT Bestsellers. I give Harper a giant round of applause (and possibly some leg humping) for this one. I just saw the announcement today for Uncaged…I seriously pee’d myself a little with how excited I am!

I am giving it 6 stars (take that, Angela)

Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed 'Estrogen Ocean', much to her husband’s chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her ereader attached. As an ex-reviewer and blogger, Harper's passion for reading runs deep. It wasn't until 'Axel' decided to take up residence that she realized her true calling.
She started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
