One To Hold by Tia Louise: Review

WARNING: Mature themes, strong language and sexual content. Recommended for adult readers (18+) only!

Derek Alexander is an ex-Marine, ex-cop, and the top investigator in his field. Melissa Jones is a small-town girl trying to escape her troubled past.

When the two intersect in a bar in Arizona, their sexual chemistry is off the charts. But what is revealed during their "one week stand" only complicates matters.

Because she'll do everything in her power to get away from the past, but he'll do everything he can to hold her.

Tia Louise has figured out the formula.......
.........gorgeous cover, hot-up-against-the-wall sex in the first chapter, and a delicious ex-Marine alpha (and, I mean mouth-watering).

I swear I stared at the cover for at least 10 minutes before I even opened the book.  I am in some serious cover love!  I know, I know.... book... cover... judging...  I get it, but I really can't help it.  I love it when I am sooooooo right about a cover!!

I don't usually finish a book in one sitting because for some reason it spoils the experience for me.  But, I couldn't help myself!!  One To Hold.  One sitting.  F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S.

“You’re not safe,” I whispered.  “And you’re not sweet.”

Derek and Melissa meet in a bar at a desert resort.  She’s there on a spa retreat, he’s there for business.  Not different or exciting????  You might even say cliche?  Well, when Melissa looks up and locks eyes with the most gorgeous set of blue ones attached to one very mysterious, tall, and sexy-as-sin god, it’s anything but.  Derek walks over, introduces himself, and immediately sparks fly.  I am telling you, holy cow, this has got to be one of the most exciting and provocative “meetings” EVAH!!!  It had me weak in the knees with eyes a big as saucers because I didn’t want to miss a single word.

There is NO doubt – he wants her, she wants him.  So they both agree to a one week stand.  She’s at the spa for a reason.  She’s taking a break and running from her past.  Derek might just be the thing Melissa needs…… or not.  Okay, so you’re probably saying “yah, I can figure out the rest of the story from here…”  Go right ahead and think that, but I think you will be pleasantly surprised (and then some).

After that statement, I will admit I was thinking how some of the story was predictable (which is not such a bad thing for me) then all of a sudden I'm saying………… Niiiiiiiice!  Tia Louise definitely had some tricks up her sleeve.

One To Hold is a quick, hot, fun, and dreamy read.  It's a book that makes you happy clap and stomp your feet like a giddy school girl because you will be rooting for Derek and Melissa.  Derek and Melissa were perfect together.  I was interested from beginning to end.  It was the right length for what Tia wanted to tell.  She didn't stretch it out unnecessarily just to make it longer, and I thank you for that, Tia.
When I was in search of my next read, I wasn’t exactly sure what I was looking for when I grabbed One To Hold.  It ended up being exactly what I needed.  There’s a lot of sweet, a bit of angst, and a ton of H-O-T.  Nothing was missing, and the story has a nice balance.  When I turned the last page, I definitely came away satisfied.  One To Hold is ONE TO READ!!!

(In case you're wondering...... it's a standalone.)

Tia Louise is a former journalist, world-traveler, and collector of beautiful men (who inspire ALL of her stories... *wink*)---turned wife, mommy, and novelist.
It's possible she has a slight truffle addiction. And she will never look at a family restroom the same way again.
ONE TO HOLD is her debut adult romance.
ONE TO KEEP is a companion novel to one to hold, and scheduled for release Jan. 16, 2014.
